I wasn't expecting to do this but I want more debate!!!

So since my previous post from today literally exploded with comments, I decided to write a brand new one for the day.

I'm kinda tired so this one will need to be quick.

I don't think this will spark quite the debate as the last one, but I think it has the potential to be controversial if thought of in the proper manner.

The issue: Bill of Rights Clarification: 1st Amendment

I personally think of the rights guaranteed all Americans in the Bill of Rights or more specifically for this matter in the 1st Amendment, the Right to free speech is the most important. While the right to vote is also an important right (not one guaranteed by the 1st Amendment however), I think that voting an official into office would mean nothing if you then couldn't complain about how they handle office. No other right do I believe is so important to American existence. so my question to you all is... of the 1st Amendment Rights (you could do others if you really wish to), which one do you think is the most important to either yourself or Americans on the whole. Is it: freedom to peaceably assemble, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom to petition???

I would just like to add on a freelancers note here, thank you everyone for your opinions, I really appreciate everyones comments no matter where you stand on an issue. :)

I'd say that freedom of speach is quite important. In my eyes if we didnt have freedom of speach we couldnt even have freedom of religion, petition and so on. Although all are very important, our opinions are what define us as individuals and being an opinionated person like myself id hate to have that taken away. I agree with the first comment though. Although our country could do slightly better to protect our saftey we are a very blessed country and i'm glad that i am here.

are there two different anonymous people?? it should be anonymous 1 and anonymous 2 :-) I agree with what the second anonymous person said. It all is one big cicrle and if you take speach away, you have nothing. I am equally happy to live in the USA except for one thing. The country as a whole could use a "Manners for dummies" handbook! I get the oppertunity to visit other countries like the Bahamas and Belize and sure there are jerks there too but gosh! We just take the cake in the US. People here are so cranky and sleep deprived...

I love the USA!!
I love FREEDOM of basically anything!!

I detest the lack of manners (especially when we are the "role model country")!!!

Jeffrey, try flag burning... maybe you'll get more debate on it. :-)

keels i think that is a bit of a rush to just jump to the next topic although i will do that one, thanks for reminding me ;). However, i wouldn't go so far to say America was ever known as the ms. manners country of the world. We do what we want, when we want, how we want. I would say that pretty much decries the idea of mannerisms. It's a valid point to consider though.

It's hard to say which one is most important to me but ones that directly affect me right now are free speech (from the music I listen to) and freedom of religion obviously.

I meant to keep it in mind for later. Not now! Now you have this awesome post...lol. Anyway... I just think that because we have more freedom and more power than most countries, we should use it with...care. Not abuse our freedoms by not voting or other things. I ♥ freedom of speach/religion.

They are all equally important, that's why our founding fathers decided to put them ALL in there!

The second amendment is now worthless, but back when the Constitution was created, that was the matter of defending yourself with your malitia, and defending your freedoms. Plus my argument was the five in the first amendment were just equally important.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the 2nd Amendment is worthless Mark. After all the concealed weapons law was just passed this past year in Wisconsin to ensure Wisonsites that right. By no means is it worthless.

Yeah, it wasn't passed. If anything would deter crime though imo concealed weapons would be it.
