Back to a question post. :)

All right since I haven't written one of these in a while, I felt it was due time that I wrote something down questioning some issue with the world. Well maybe not an issue, but something to do with the world.

I don't know about anybody else, but I have noticed lately that mother nature seems to be getting a bit violent on us. Last December there was the tsunami in south asia and the northern Indian Ocean which killed over 100,000 people. then this year both Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Katrina, along with these recent Earthquakes, not to mention the tornadoes that ripped into Wisconsin this past summer. Now I'm really not one to believe in the idea of mother nature getting revenge on people, but this is just plain ridiculous. It seems you can't go a week without some massive catastrophe being reported. I wonder if our world is falling apart or something. I have no idea, but hey this is about you people. What are your opinions??

And my one other topic is similar to this. In the news the other night, I heard that Milwaukee had eclipsed the mark of 100 homicides this year. 100 homicides... In one year. 10 months. Years not even over. think about it, 100 lives snuffed out, and probably for no better then reason then petty rage or jealousy or anger. Why?? Why is the world this way, why is it when you turn on the news, when you read the newspaper, when you even look around at the world, that you see so much violence, so much hate, so much want, jealousy, rage, incessant want?? I know the world will never be peaceful, the world will never be free of murder and death and destruction. thats one of those things that has to happen sometimes. Without war there would be no peace. Can anyone explain our world to me?? Why when I watch the news I am ashamed. I am afraid of what this world will become. That someday my own children might have to face a world littered with violence. Thats no world I want to pass on. So why can't it change? Why...

well mother nature is stupid lol.

umm I think that the state and national govt need 2 start thinking about safety instead of tax cuts. i really don't think high taxes are going 2 bother ppl if they are going 2 b safer. i mean 100 murders in 10 months is beyond pathetic.

For Mother Nature: She's been abused a lot of the last century. Many scientists say that global warming from pollution and excessive use of fossil fuels has risen the temperature in the Gulf of Mexico. Warmer waters make worse hurricanes.

There is a hell of a lot of violence in our world. That's all you ever hear about, but that does't mean that good things aren't happening either because they most certainly are. Sometimes when I feel like there's so much violence and discord in the world, I think maybe it's time Jesus came back. But then I remember how much good there is too, and how many people are living their lives in modest ways.

I doubt god is punishing us for 100 homicides. 100 homicides is bad and it is probably due to gang violence or drugs or some type of fight for that matter... pretty pathetic.

To kim: You can not blaim violent media for deaths. It is rediculous to think that violent media actually CAUSES people to kill one another. I doubt there is even a correlation. I think it is the parents fault for not teaching their kids right from wrong and chances are there were other reasons involved than "he saw violence on tv and performed it".

Nice to see Jeff post another interesting blog.

Yeah... or maybe it has to do with this thing called a hurricane, which is a natural disaster that does not pick its destination or have a picked destination as proven by science... maybe? Also I think the bible is no more valid than the epic of Gilgamesh.

I am not bashing it, rather just informing people what it really is. I can understand if people like to read it and maybe get inspired by it, but when people are living their lives off of a book full of stories (there are morals and stuff too), then it is kind of sad. The bible gets some of its stories from earlier works ie: the epic of gilgamesh and the flood story of Ishtar and nobody lives their lives off those books or even stop to think that those are simply stories. The same should be true for the bible. I guess if you want to live your life that way, that is alright, but I have the right to express my opinion and live my life how I want.

However you want to base your beliefs off of, I don't believe I am alone in saying that its getting a bit freaky lately with all the deaths in the world. I should say mass casualities at one single point due to one single calamity. A lot of people die every day, and we don't really pay that as much attention as we probably should, but 30,000 people are estimated dead in the recent Earthquakes. one of those 30,000 people could have cured cancer, or become a President.

the world is gonna end soon. i swear we will all die of sum major catastrophe before we reach age 60

that may be a bit extreme. People probably thought that during World War I and II or maybe during the 1918 flu epidemic when people died in the 10's of millions. This isn't quite that extreme.

"have u not noticed that where the hurricane hit was one of the most unrightous cites...the mardi-gra city."

1.) It's MARDI GRAS--with an "s," and two words.

2.) Have you not noticed that where the hurricane hit is one of worst engineered cities in the world? It's at the bottom of a bowl. People died because that city was susceptible to extreme damage should a natural disaster such as Katrina ever strike it dead on. It wasn't because the people there were "unrightous." To say those people were hit because they were immoral is a very ignorant statement and I resent it immensly.
