UWM meet pics

Up above we have Andy and Nick running the 3K and Brad also running the 3K with his "cool" look. Loser :P

To the right we have Nick Berndt in the 600 and below is me in the 3K. I apologize for the blurriness, it was hard to get a really good shot inside of the gym. It was dark in our corner but light in others so I am really sorry about that.

Up above here there is Brad and I in the picture in the 3K on the first lap, and Nick Berndt's shoe is just visible. And down below we have my absolute favorite picture of the entire meet :) Lucas in his "cool-man" short sleeve under arm shirt and compression shorts. Scoping out the babes as Nick so eloquently put it. GO LUCAS!!!

Meet results

UWM on friday.... it was... amazing, yet humbling in many ways.

The grand total of people who went were Andy Ashenden, Nick Berndt (yes he is awesome!!), Brad Wigh, Lucas Pfaffenroth, Andrew Jarratt and myself.

The weather... was frightful yet still oh soooo delightful. Brad Wigh is a really good driver though, I did find that out.

Okay so for the meet we ran two events between the group. The 3,000 meter run (or 3K) and the 600 meter dash (3 laps around the indoor track). The 3K is 15 laps (200 meter indoor track).

Everyone except for Lucas ran the 3K and we overall did fairly well, Andy took 3rd out of 12 with a 9:21 (exceptionally fast time) Nick took 7th with a 9:51, I took 9th with a 10:15 and Brad took 10th with a 10:36 and Andrew well for his sake I won't put that in here. Andrew Perkins (the state champion in Division 1 XC) won the 3K in 8:50. Lets just say hes fast. Anyway, we all did really well considering the time of year and the fact that we have 43 days until track starts, we will be ready I believe.

Then came the 600 meter dash. Nick, Andy and Lucas all ran that. I had put my name down for it but my legs were sore from the 3K so I sat out of this event. Andy ran a 1:27 which is very fast for a 600, Lucas a 1:35 and Nick a 1:36 or 1:37 I do believe. It was amazing how fast they were going. I was completely in awe.

Overall it was completely a blast and I can't wait for track to start now, just to see how much training has indeed paid off.

Train hard,
Run harder

I will have pictures up of the meet shortly for anyone interested :)

this is weird

I was looking through peoples blogs today and I came to a strange realization about a lot of different people and what they say. Do you ever realize how many people write "I don't want to conform to your society" or "I just want to be myself" and my personal favorite "Being myself in a crowd of people"? Okay what I love is how you wish to be yourselves yet you always say the crowd is restricting you. I hate to sound harsh and mean but guess what, I don't see a single person in our high school being held at gun point and being forced to do what everyone else does. you may say that teen pressure is extremely hard, and granted it is hard at times; and you may also say that other circumstances in your life make things difficult but still no one is making you be like someone else in high school. No one is 'forcing you' to change to be 'cool'. As a matter of fact, you are the ones changing to match the society you so supposedly despise. See an irony in this?? See by changing to match everyone else, then complaining about matching the rest of the world are you really doing anything. Honestly if you want to be yourself don't adapt in the first place. What I love is how people will probably take offense to this and you know I don't intend to come off harsh here. I really am not pointing fingers nor am I trying to sound arrogantly cocky. I know I have said some pretty dumb things relating to this in the past. My biggest point out of this whole entire thing is that maybe instead of becoming one with society to begin with, you should try being different from the start. Once you deem it socially acceptable it becomes nearly impossible to change that attitude.

*When I say "you" I mean it in generic terms no direct correlation to a particular person.*

You say you want change, maybe you should change yourself and watch the way the entire world changes along with it.

I love high school

The sensational feeling of doing homework until your eyes bleed out... yea I love that feeling. Its grandiose. teachers piled on the homework this week, it was insanity. Then again... this next week will have zero homework whatsoever and I'm loving that. Plus with the track meet on friday right when exams end ahh the most ultra perfect way to end exam week.

the 2006 olympics are nearly here and I think its amazing to watch the speed skaters, I don't mean on tv I mean in person. When we run at the Petit for our own speed workouts and we go around the skaters on the ice its crazy how fast they move. I saw one guy cover 1100 meters in 44 seconds, thats pretty fast. They move so fluidly too, its almost as if they are one with the ice, and not a separate piece of it. Its quite amazing to watch; and when they go around turns they actually lift their feet up and cross them over one another which sounds crazy when your skating around a turn but its a nifty little turning manuever. It adds excitement to every workout when you can race someone on skates and get completely decimated but it still adds a new mix to every run.

Everyone good luck on your exams. Don't stress out over them. Life will continue whether or not you fail or pass so why worry about it?? Just enjoy the week and don't kill yourself studying cause half the time they don't put what you studied for on the exam.

Live and let live,
Jeffrey

Two days till the first speed workout of 2006!!!

All right I am basically only posting to give you the readers of this nonchalant-based blog a chance to know the amazing events happening this January. this Saturday is the first speed workout of the year for the track guys (that includes me). That is a sign that track is quickly approaching (YEAEAYEAYEAYEAYEAYEAYEYAEYAYEAYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA). Its also a sign that Jeffy needs to improve a lot. A lot a lot. But hey its like 60 days or something along those lines so I'm not stressing out. However the first track meet of the season is in 15 days I do believe. Its either 15 or 22. Yes I know track starts in March but there is an indoor meet at UWM on either January 20th or the 27th and we are all going to go and run in as many events as we possibly can. It will be sooooo exciting cause Brad Wigh and I get to race Kriegel-Man in the 3K run!!!! We will both get dominated severely but it will be completely worth the domination factor to run a race with Kriegel for the first time in our lives. Unfortunately its all indoors so the air will be putrid, hot, and completely dehydrate you by the end of 2 laps (the 3K is 15 laps since this track is 200 meters long). I am also considering doing the mile run and the 600 meter but...... probably not since Andrew Perkins will be in those and I will get completely wasted and thats not quite why I want to go out. Aww I will do the mile and the 3K, why not :)

Birthdays on the 28th... I don't really want to turn 16 or anything. 16 is the age of drivers license and I'm not going to lie I don't want to drive a car. I don't really see the need to do that nor spend the money on gas or risk the responsiblity of killing someone with that weapon (car is a weapon after all). Plus I don't really want to get older, I hate losing my childhood every day and not being able to do a thing about it. It bothers me beyond belief. say whatever wise remark you wish but the end result is never going to change; I'm not getting any younger and neither are you for that matter. Bah its mind boggling to think of every moment wasted in life and every moment being wasted on here right now. I'm out so everyone have a nice weekend and enjoy your lovely (but not weather wise) January.

P.S. Where are you sun??!!!!!!!

Feeling like some comedic relief

That is the truest statement I have ever heard.

High school ain't that bad, its just not that great either.
